PowerPipe Subwoofers

The Power Pipe subwoofer was created to fill a void that custom integrators have been longing for since the beginning; how to fill a space with big sound without disturbing the surrounding motif created by interior designers. With that one hurdle in mind, the engineers at James set out to create the worlds finest subwoofer and keep it hidden from everyone. The finished product resulted in what can only be described as a “game changer” for the CE industry. The Power Pipe has quickly become one of the most sought after components in the world of high end audio/video installation projects. The design of the Power Pipe is to move large amounts of air through a relatively small hose, which resonates at a tuned frequency of about 35Hz. This is achieved through the drivers design and surrounding sealed cabinet composition. Because the woofer has been tuned with its acoustical peak in the region of frequencies where bass energy in music and movie soundtracks tend to be greatest, the driver can operate at the frequencies within its linear cone excursion range, and rely on the band pass port tube to simply “amplify” its output. The Power Pipe is truly ingenious by design, however quite straightforward to implement into just about any project. Because the Power Pipe incorporates a sealed aluminum enclosure, finding a place to mount the driver unit is fairly easy, whether it be suspended above in an attic or down below a sub-floor or even stowed away in a closet. The flex tube is simply routed from driver unit to your choice of available port options, providing a seamless decor treatment for even the most discerning clients and designers. Custom port options are also available, and can be configured in a multitude of various shapes, sizes and colors.

The basic design behind the Power Pipe is to move large amounts of air through a relatively small hose, which resonates at a tuned frequency of about 35Hz. This is achieved through the drivers design and surrounding sealed cabinet composition. Because the woofer has been tuned with its acoustical peak in the region of frequencies where bass energy in music and movie soundtracks tend to be greatest, the driver can operate at the frequencies within its linear cone excursion range, and rely on the band pass flextube to simply “amplify” its output. Features all aluminum drivers mounted inside a sealed enclosure. The front of each unit features a sealed band pass port, where the flextube attaches and from there connects to any number of available port options. As each of the Power Pipe subwoofers are passive, they can all be powered by James’ M1000 DSP amplifier, providing up to 1000W of power. The 1500PTM comes standard with a 15″ aluminum woofer, housed inside a studio black cabinet. The standard flextube is 30″ long and 8″ in diameter, but can be cut down to 24″ without it affecting the tonal frequency range. A longer flextube can be ordered to accommodate various placement options but cannot be extended beyond 36″ without it affecting the drivers tonal output.
